I've had Kartboy shifters on all 3 of my WRX's, and when I get the chance, I'll be swapping out the Kartboy with a Cobb adjustable shifter on my current one. to you it's a high performance car, to them it may feel and sound like a rickity piece of crap and drive them nuts! there's always a give and take and you need to decide what you and your gf/bf/wife/husband can settle for.

the soft rubber is mostly meant to make your car feel and sound like a nice car, and not feel or sound like a rally, or sports car!Д«ut you bought a subaru, not a freaking toyota corolla!! you will feel the engine vibrating more throughout the car, you will hear the vibrations instead of them being absorbed through the softer rubber etc etc. The downside to this there's always a downside. your shifting will feel more solid, you won't feel the engine move within the chassis etc. you won't feel your engine, transmission or shifter move under those various conditions, and it will make your entire car feel more connected. When you replace any of these soft bushings, with harder bushings it tightens things up. THAT is what the soft rubber allows to happen. you can most easily see this sloppiness in the shifter, when it's in any gear, take the shifter and wiggle it back and forth a little bit. whether it's your transmission slightly moving every time you push the gas, or engage the clutch, or the engine moving slightly. In short, the rubber that they use at the factory is soft, imagine your car is 5-10 years old, and the soft rubber is even softer! this softness translates to sloppiness and allows things to move.
